Simple Reminders — Beta

Android Early Access — Alpha Delta Studios

Simple Reminders is a local-first Android reminder app. No account, no cloud, no subscription — your reminders live on your phone. I'm running a small private beta before launch and I'd love your help finding anything broken.

This is a beta build. It may have bugs. That's why you're here.

Download APK (Android only)

Version 0.8 beta — requires Android 8.0 or higher

Before you install

Android doesn't allow installing apps from outside the Play Store by default. You'll need to allow it once — here's how:

  1. Download the APK file using the button above.
  2. Open your Downloads folder and tap the file.
  3. Android will ask if you want to allow installs from this source. Tap Settings, enable it, then go back and tap Install.
  4. Once installed, you can turn that setting back off if you want.

This is standard procedure for beta testing apps before they hit the Play Store. The app is safe — it's built by me, not some random source. No worries if you'd rather wait for the Play Store release.

When you first open it

The app will ask for notification permission. Grant it — notifications are the whole point. Without them, you'll see the reminders in the app but they won't fire in the background.

If you want to make sure reminders fire reliably even if you haven't opened the app in a while, go to your phone's Settings → Apps → Simple Reminders → Battery → and set it to Unrestricted. This prevents Android from putting the app to sleep when it's idle.

What I'm testing

The things I most want to know about:

You don't need to run structured tests. Just use it like a real reminder app for a few days and tell me if anything goes wrong.

How to report bugs

Use the built-in bug report form — it's under Settings → Report a Bug inside the app. Give me a short description and the steps to reproduce it if you can. Screenshots help.

A few things to know

Thanks for helping — I genuinely appreciate it.
